How did I start running

How did I start my running? Social media can be a good thing at times. I wasn’t always into fitness, I was just starting to run and wanted to get better. I then seen a gym advertise Couch to 5K which I now offer myself at Renfrewshire boxing. I’d highly recommend the Couch to 5K programme,  it’s a brilliant way to get started with your running.

Couch to 5K is a 5 week programme were you can do it a few ways, building up the time or distance. It’s a great way to meet people who are looking to get fitter or get better at running like I did. You might think it’s not for you but it’s great to get out & clear your head. I wasn’t sure if it was for me at first, after a while I realised I loved running. I ended up looking forward to my next run.

Once I completed the Couch25k programme I then decided to continue running and stick with the group. Which I started going up the miles and trying to get some pbs (personal bests). I was still enjoying run club so I pushed myself by starting to train for my first half marathon 13.1 miles, I’ve now done a few half marathons. Furthermore I thought it’ll be good to challenge myself. I then signed up to my first marathon, Loch Ness and made sure there was hill training added in as well as going up the miles. Loch Ness is a great race which I’ve now done twice and the scenery is amazing. Also I’ve done one of the major series marathons – Berlin. It was an amazing experience which is where I got my pb.

Are you looking to get into running? Why not pop down to run club at Renfrewshire boxing. If you don’t think a group is for you at first I offer 1-1 running as well as personal training.
