Long run

Long distance running is different for each runner. I highly recommend everyone going on a long run should use a running belt to store keys and your phone or music. I prefer the waist fitting running belts but they also come as armbands too.

All runners should keep a fully charged mobile phone on them, not just for safety reasons of course but try and take some photo's when you are out there to document your journey. Running can take you to some beautiful areas! Make sure you know the route you are taking well and if its over 10k make sure to take water and some energy sources. I use running gels when I am out a long run but other people use jelly babies or energy drinks.

Try and change up your running routes because they can get boring but always make sure you research it thoroughly before going out. If you can try and keep your running routine to the same days and start times because its amazing how quickly your body will come to expect running!

Most of all the best advice I can give is to enjoy your running! You are running your own race so don't worry about anyone else. Book in with Gemma Kerr Fitness to improve your distance running and to get tailored advice for running any distance.
